Otto is a 7 year old male chihuahua/pug mix that came to us an owner surrender. He has been with for a few weeks now in one of our amazing foster homes, and this is what his Foster has to say about him…

“Meet sweet Otto aka Ottobot for his ability to transform from couch potato to road runner when it’s time to go out for walks. Don’t let the pudgy belly fool you…this boy has loads of energy. He’s calm indoors but when the leash comes out this boy is ready for action so he will need a family that will give him plenty of exercise or a fenced backyard where he can run off his regular zoomie skills with the kids or other dog pals.

Otto is a sweetheart!! He’s great with all things big and small that he’s met so far and his goal in life seems to be to play with anyone who will give him the time….kids (he absolutely adores them), dogs, cats…and even ferrets! When it’s time to settle down he will sneak his way on to your lap to snuggle or sleep in your arms. A regular cuddler this one.

He does have a couple of quirks that we are working on. The first of which is some mild guarding of food and treats around his 4 legged foster sibling. It hasn’t gotten to anything more than a growl which we started correcting immediately. He takes correction well, so a simple stern NO snaps him out of this mood.

Quirk number 2 – the groomer. We’ve taken him twice now and like most dogs it’s not really his cup of tea and he will definitely throw a tantrum if you let him. We’ve been successful both times using a muzzle, some treats and a calm voice. The muzzle is a must when trimming his nails because we don’t want him to nip out of fear.

We have been working on his recall and he’s been doing great. He now knows come, check in, sit, stay, shake, high five and his newest one in progress, sneezing on command – a trick he’s been learning from one of our dogs at treat time.”

Otto is neutered and up to date on shots, if interested in Otto  please fill out an application under our foster to adopt tab.
