As with so many rescue dogs, we don’t know Duke’s full history. We do know he has some neurological damage from his past life, this presents itself by staring at walls when stressed out, and when you look into his eyes, behind all of the love he has, there is a very special dog with special needs. He is currently slightly overweight, but we’ve been getting him regular exercise (4 walks a day!) and have him on a good quality kibble to slim him down. He currently weights around 90lbs, and the vet would like to see him closer to 80lbs. He is crate trained, although can be stubborn when going in. Treats always help! He is house broken, no accidents at all! He has resource guarding but has gotten along with our sassy miss Mallory for the last 2 weeks. He loves other doggos and wants to say hello to all the dogs but needs guidance on proper introductions. He walks well on a leash with an experienced handler, like all stubborn bullies, he will pull if not given the guidance. He is trained on a halti, and a prong collar and also muzzle trained.
“Oh Hi! My name is Duke, and i’m ready to find my furever home. I’m 8 years old (I think), and I’m a Cane Corso Bully Mix. I love my hoomans but I’m a bit wary of new people, and you can see that when my tail tucks between my legs. As big as I am, I’m also a big baby and big things like trucks and busses can make me a little scared. My favorite hobbies are car rides, sleeping, staring out the window, and smelling all the things on walks. I knows sit, paw, gentle and wait. I am still learning manners on leash and to wait for my food but everyday, i get better and better. I can be protective of my bones with other dogs around, but I’m pretty neutral to dogs on walks and in the home, especially my sassy foster sister Mallory. My foster mom likes to sing songs when I’m trotting around the house, and always calls me a happy guy! I can’t wait to meet my future fur-parents and give them all the love and snuggles and laughs.”
As with all our dogs, he is neutered and up to date on shots.
